“Do you have any questions for us?"
Questions to ask during an interview.
When preparing candidates for employer interviews we are regularly asked for examples of questions that would be suitable to ask the employer. As you know there are many that could be used, and some become apparent as a result of the interview... but when you are asked; “Do you have any questions to ask us?” consider the following as options that might help.
And remember Rule #1 – make sure you ask questions you truly want to know the answer to...
- What are the company's strengths and weaknesses compared to its competition?
- Could you explain your organizational structure?
- How will my performance be measured? By whom?
- Could you describe your company's management style and the type of employee who fits well with it?
- What are some of the skills and abilities necessary for someone to succeed in this job?
- How much guidance or assistance is made available to individuals in developing career goals?
- Can you describe an ideal employee?
- What are the top three qualities an employee needs to be successful in this job?
- What is a typical career path from this job?
- What are some of the things that you like about working for this company?
- What is the single most important quality someone in this job should possess?
- Are there opportunities for training (and/or career enrichment) in this job? What are they?
- Ask the hiring manager how he or she got hired at the company.
- You could also ask: What do you most like (and/or dislike) about working here?
