Initiatives Organisations Are Using to Futureproof Their ...
There is no denying that the current situation is challenging and unchartered waters for all of us – there is a lot of speculation and uncertainty, amongst all that hope and solidarity. I have been spending my days talking to clients and candidates alike to hear how they are coping (aka surviving) and it has been interesting to see the subtle changes I'm hearing each week.Last week, there was still a lot of shock in the marketplace – trying to understand what we were dealing with and putting strategies together to try and overcome what we faced. A lot of the conversations were around how badly a company or team had been impacted and the emotions that went with the transition. This week, there is a slight shift where companies are now talking about strategies or initiatives they can do within their business to keep teams connected, motivated, productive and loyal to the business. These conversations are pivotal as it has allowed me to not only listen but provided an opportunity to share these initiatives with other organisations who could potentially adapt them for their business. Some of these initiatives have included:Pulse survey Wellness Wednesday Team meetingsIncentives We know there will be changes to what was “the norm” for businesses and it will be interesting to see just what the lay of the land will look like moving forward ... But chatting to a few HR professionals in the market, they are also looking at how employers can ‘reboard’ their employees and transition the workforce back to the office when things settle down. This certainly will be another challenge to tackle. What is your organisation doing to keep your teams connected and motivated – we would love to hear from you.May 07, 2020
Job Hunting Tips
Shine Bright like a Diamond
When applying for a new role – your resume is your first selling tool that a future employer/recruiter will see and read – so make sure it hits the mark and that you sell yourself on skills, experience and achievements. Having worked in recruitment for several years, I have seen some amazing resumes that cover the selection criteria from an advert, demonstrate experience and skills gained, highlights what the candidate can offer and explains what they are looking for in their next role. But in saying that, I have also received several resumes that just don’t tick the boxes required for the role. Here’s a few tips for when you are preparing your resume: Don’t add a picture to your front cover or emboss it in the background Ensure you have your contact details on your resume (yes, believe it not, some people forget this!) Colour paper/flower boarders are distractors from your skills/experience so don’t use them Read the whole job advertisement - align your experience to the skills/experience/selection criteria outlined in the advert Provide one or two achievements for each role you have held – a proven track record counts in your favour Share a summary that explains what you are looking for from the next role such as the culture and company Keep it to the point – short, sharp and sweet is a winner – solid paragraphs are harder to read and stop us from easily identifying what you can bring! Remember, your resume is your first selling point – your second will be you when you call to follow up on your application/resume! Always put the best foot forward with a resume that shines bright as your skills will be compared to multiple candidates applying for the same role. Shine bright like a diamond!August 13, 2019
