They are seeking a commercially-minded finance professional to be a central part of their close-knit UK team, taking ownership of the finance function and supporting international operations.
The Role
We are recruiting for an Accountant to manage the end-to-end financial and operational processes of the UK office. This is a hands-on and varied role that combines traditional accounting duties with critical international trade responsibilities. You will be instrumental in managing multi-currency transactions, collaborating with global teams, and ensuring compliance across all trade-related activities. This position offers significant autonomy and the chance to directly influence business strategy and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounting cycle (AP/AR, GL, month-end).
- Handle multi-currency transactions and bank reconciliations (GBP, USD, EUR, INR, RMB).
- Lead and maintain all import/export documentation and trade compliance.
- Liaise with international teams, freight forwarders, and customs agents.
- Produce key financial statements, cashflow forecasts, and budget reports.
- Administer HMRC compliance, VAT returns, and statutory filings.
- Support the implementation of new accounting systems and digital finance processes.
Candidate Profile
- MAAT/CIMA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience (minimum 5 years in a UK finance role).
- Comfortable with 5 days in the office as is a requirement of the role. The office is in northwest London.
- Demonstrated experience in international trade finance, preferably within commodities, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Proven hands-on experience with multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange.
- Skilled in coordinating cross-border finance and logistics (e.g., shipping documents, customs clearance).
- Strong accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- High level of commercial awareness and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
