Role:
We are seeking a team-oriented, enthusiastic, and proactive Learning Support Officer to join our Junior-Middle School team. This role involves working under the guidance of classroom and specialist teachers to support students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring targeted assistance. You will work individually or in small groups, both in and out of the classroom, and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support student learning under teacher direction, working with individuals and small groups.
- Assist students with specific learning needs to engage with curriculum tasks and maintain focus.
- Provide supervision and assistance during classroom activities, recess, and lunch breaks.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Head of Learning Enhancement to adapt learning activities.
- Encourage positive social interactions and respectful relationships among students.
- Accompany students on excursions, camps, and other school activities as required.
- Undertake minor administrative tasks related to student support.
- Attend professional development sessions focused on strategies for supporting diverse learners.
- Uphold child safety and wellbeing standards in all aspects of school life.
- Demonstrated experience working with students in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to use initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Caring, patient, and enthusiastic nature with a genuine passion for supporting student learning.
- Strong organisational skills and adaptability to manage changing priorities.
- Digital literacy and ability to use technology to support learning.
- Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or equivalent).
- Current Working with Children Check.
- National Police Check.
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis training certification (or willingness to obtain).
