Senior Advisor – Government Ministry

This is a fixed term role through til July 2026, based in Wellington. It is a senior advisor role with a focus on Board Appointments and/or Crown Entity Monitoring. Depending on your experience (in either or both areas), you’ll support Cabinet, Public Service Commission and APH processes, interview Board Chairs, and engage directly with ELT of crown entities, monitor Crown entities, including developing performance measures, audit frameworks, and risk models. This mahi plays a vital role in shaping public sector performance and governance.
Mōu | About you
You’ll be an experienced public sector professional with a strong background in either Board Appointments and/or Crown Entity Monitoring. You’ve advised ministers and are confident operating at the interface between government, boards, and senior stakeholders.

- Proven experience in Board Appointments and/or Crown Entity Monitoring from within a Ministry
- Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex issues into clear recommendations
- Knowledge of Cabinet and ministerial processes (APH, appointments)
- Experience gained within a New Zealand Ministry
