Join a central government team leading a major initiative to strengthen New Zealand’s international strategic interests. This group works across agencies and with stakeholders to enhance the economic and strategic value of international engagement.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This is a high-impact role contributing to the development and implementation of a Government Policy Statement focused on international strategy. You’ll be involved in drafting Cabinet papers, ministerial briefings, and strategic policy advice, while engaging with senior officials and external stakeholders. This is a chance to influence direction and gain exposure to senior decision-making.

You’re a confident policy professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of how government works. You bring maturity, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You’re ready to step into a role that offers visibility, challenge, and the chance to make a tangible impact.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

1–3 years’ experience in policy analysis, ideally with exposure to international strategy or cross-agency work
Proven ability to draft Cabinet papers, ministerial briefings, and strategic policy advice
High EQ and confidence engaging with senior officials and Ministers
