This role offers the autonomy and responsibility expected of an experienced practitioner. You will manage a high volume of complex abuse matters, primarily involving historical and institutional abuse claims, with full carriage from initial intake through to resolution. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior solicitors and support staff, contributing to the development of a high performing, empathetic and client centred team
  • Manage a busy caseload of plaintiff abuse matters with full conduct
  • Work directly with clients in a sensitive manner
  • Draft pleadings, statements and correspondence with precision and care
  • Conduct negotiations, mediations and settlement conferences
  • Provide guidance, supervision and mentorship to junior lawyers and support staff
  • Work collaboratively with counsel, external experts and internal teams
  • Contribute to process improvements and team leadership as the practice grows
     
As an experienced litigation lawyer who thrives in a plaintiff environment, you will be driven by purpose, advocacy and meaningful outcomes. You will have 5 years PAE in abuse litigation, personal injury or institutional/historical abuse matters (plaintiff experience essential). You will be able to demonstrate the ability to run files autonomously in a high volume practice environment. You will possess strong advocacy, negotiation and drafting skills and enjoy staff management contributing to the growth of the firm.
