The Role
The firm is seeking a Tax Lawyer (Associate or Senior Associate level) with 2-7 years’ PAE to join its front-end Corporate Tax team in Sydney. This is a broad and technically challenging position, offering involvement in significant national transactions and ongoing mentorship from an industry-leading tax partner.

Key duties include:
  • Advising on corporate tax matters across income tax, GST and stamp duty
  • Supporting front-end M&A transactions, real estate deals and banking & finance matters
  • Preparing and reviewing tax memoranda, structuring advice and technical tax analysis
  • Assisting with tax drafting within transactional agreements, including share sale agreements, asset sale agreements and contracts of sale
  • Working closely with corporate, property and banking teams across multiple offices
  • Conducting detailed statutory interpretation and advising on complex tax issues
  • Managing client expectations and contributing to the growth of a busy, high-performing tax practice

The Candidate
To be successful, candidates should demonstrate:
  • 2-7 years’ PAE in corporate tax advisory or transaction-related tax work
  • Experience within a reputable law firm or top-tier tax advisory environment
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent technical and analytical ability
  • Proficiency or interest in income tax, with exposure to GST and stamp duty advantageous
  • Strong drafting capability and attention to detail, particularly in tax-related transactional documents
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts clearly
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong time management skills and the capacity to run matters with autonomy appropriate to level
Income tax experience and demonstrated capability in preparing tax advice are highly valued.
