The Role
The firm is seeking a Construction Lawyer (Back-End) to join its highly regarded Construction & Infrastructure team in Sydney. Reporting directly to an experienced senior practitioner with top-tier background, this role offers exposure to complex and strategically significant disputes across major infrastructure, commercial construction and engineering projects.

Key duties include:
· Acting on construction and infrastructure disputes, including litigation, adjudication and arbitration
· Advising on contract interpretation, delay and defect claims, payment disputes and risk allocation
· Drafting pleadings, evidence, correspondence and detailed legal advice
· Supporting senior lawyers on large-scale disputes while running smaller files with autonomy
· Working closely with project teams, engineers, external consultants and internal stakeholders
· Participating in strategic meetings, negotiations and client briefings
· Gaining exposure to occasional front-end work, depending on workflow and interest

The team is busy, well-structured and offers opportunities for secondments and hands-on experience with major national clients.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
· 1.5-4 years’ PAE in construction or commercial litigation within a reputable law firm
· Strong interest and experience in back-end construction disputes (front-end exposure advantageous but not essential)
· Excellent drafting skills, precision and attention to detail
· Strong legal analysis, research capability and ability to manage competing deadlines
· A commercial mindset and a practical approach to complex problem-solving
· Ability to engage confidently with clients and manage expectations
· Professionalism, initiative and a proactive approach to file management
· Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills within a collaborative environment
