CTO - Technical / Digital Director - Interim

6-Month Fixed Term Contract - View for Permanency| Immediate start

A dynamic, forward-thinking creative agency is embarking on a major transformation journey to become an AI-augmented studio—one that accelerates ideation, automation, and delivery at scale. To support this, we are seeking an experienced Technical/Digital Director to lead a pivotal 6-month programme of change.

This senior leadership role combines strategic direction and hands-on delivery. You’ll work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to evolve digital capabilities, shape new AI-driven service propositions, and ensure the agency is set up for future growth.
The Opportunity

Define and implement the future structure and direction of the digital/development function.
Lead and inspire a cross-disciplinary team, embedding scalable, AI-enhanced workflows.
Provide oversight and technical leadership on critical digital projects.
Collaborate with leaders across design, strategy, client services, and operations to integrate technical innovation into every aspect of delivery.
Mentor and develop internal talent to ensure long-term leadership and capability within the digital function.
Drive improvements in infrastructure, processes, and systems for speed, quality, and scalability.

What We’re Looking For

Proven track record in leading technical/digital teams within an agency, studio, or innovation-driven environment.
Hands-on technical expertise across modern frameworks, platforms, and workflows (e.g. HTML5, PHP/Laravel, WordPress, Webflow, Git, Jira, Figma).
Experience embedding automation and AI tools into production workflows.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to align digital innovation with business strategy.
A collaborative, inspiring leader who thrives in a fast-moving, creative environment.
