The Role

The firm is seeking an exceptional graduate to join its Banking & Finance team in Sydney. This role forms part of a national graduate cohort and includes Practical Legal Training delivered in-house.

The successful candidate will work on a wide range of financing transactions, including:
  • corporate and property finance
  • structured and project finance
  • capital raisings
  • restructuring and recapitalisations
  • solvent and insolvent finance matters
The Banking & Finance team advises both lenders and borrowers, including domestic and international banks, private equity funds, institutional investors, private family groups and corporates. The role offers significant exposure to complex, high-value transactions and the opportunity to work closely with practitioners across commercial, insolvency, tax, property and construction teams.
Graduates will be actively involved in drafting, research, due diligence, transaction support and client communication. They will receive direct supervision from Partners and gain early responsibility on matters.

The Candidate
The firm is seeking an academically outstanding graduate: someone who consistently performs at a high standard and thrives in a demanding environment.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Distinction average or above across their law degree
  • Strong results in Banking & Finance law and a genuine interest in the field
  • Experience at a top-tier, global or large national law firm is ESSENTIAL
  • Prior experience in a finance team within private practice (desirable but not essential)
  • Highly developed analytical ability and strong commercial judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • The ability to identify key issues quickly and think strategically
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across teams
  • A proactive mindset with the confidence to take ownership of work
  • A genuine commitment to building a career in commercial law
