Our client is a globally recognised law firm with a strong presence across key financial and commercial markets. Renowned for advising leading financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and corporates, the firm is regularly engaged on complex restructuring, insolvency and dispute resolution matters. The Sydney team is highly regarded for its technical expertise, collaborative culture and involvement in significant domestic and cross-border matters.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer with 2-5 years' post-qualification experience to join a well-established Restructuring & Insolvency practice in Sydney. Working closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers, the successful candidate will advise on a broad range of restructuring, turnaround and insolvency matters. The role offers a unique combination of transactional, advisory and contentious work, including:
- Acting for major banks and financiers on restructuring and securities enforcement matters
- Advising receivers, administrators and liquidators in external administrations
- Managing loan recovery and corporate insolvency matters
- Assisting on complex domestic and international restructuring engagements
- Handling insolvency-related litigation and commercial disputes across various jurisdictions
- Supporting client relationship initiatives and business development activities
- Contributing to knowledge management, precedents and internal training resources
This role provides genuine access to partners, early responsibility and exposure to high-profile matters across a diverse client base.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2-5 years' PQE gained within a reputable law firm or relevant in-house environment
- Strong experience in restructuring, insolvency and commercial litigation
- Exposure to banking litigation, loan recovery and securities enforcement matters
- Experience acting for lenders, insolvency practitioners or corporate clients
- Excellent technical drafting and analytical skills
- Strong organisational and matter management capabilities
- Commercial awareness and a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team environment
- Candidates with experience across both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency matters will be particularly well regarded.
