The Company
My client is an International Corporation which has operated in Australia for almost 50 years and they are proud to have built a reputation for performance, trust and reliability working with Australia’s key industries including Energy, Mining, Industrial and Social Infrastructure sectors. My client provides complete engineering solutions to customers, utilising our full range of products and services including turbines, generators, motors, electrical drives and their control and protection systems.
 
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team. This role is integral to supporting large-scale projects by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and performance monitoring. You’ll partner with Project Managers, Business Unit leaders, and the finance team to deliver timely insights that drive successful project outcomes.
Along with a competitive salary package, you’ll enjoy a 15% annual bonus and the option to work from home one day per week after your 6-month probation period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate forecasts of project revenue and costs across approximately 150 active projects at any given time, ranging in size and complexity
  • Manage accounting data and processes, monitoring and analysing project financial performance
  • Ensure timely and accurate recognition of revenue and cost of sales in line with accounting standards and policies
  • Forecast project cashflows and track actual performance against forecasts
  • Prepare and deliver project financial reports to support decision-making
  • Play a key role in the NetSuite implementation, including integration with other systems and ongoing development
  • Provide support for audits, including reconciliation and analysis of project accounts
  • Manage compliance with project FX management policies
  • Deliver ad hoc project accounting support as required by management
About You
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (CPA / CA highly regarded)
  • 5–10 years’ experience in project or cost accounting within complex environments
  • Background in the energy or civil construction sectors highly desirable
  • Strong skills in budgeting, analysis, financial reporting, and compliance
  • Proficiency in accounting systems; experience with NetSuite or Oracle highly desirable
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across a high project volume, and meet tight monthly deadlines
  • Prior experience in a large project, engineering, or infrastructure environment will be highly regarded
