The Role
- Sydney based senior role within a leading general insurance team
- Working across both insurance and government client portfolios
- Managing complex casualty matters including professional indemnity, construction and general liability claims
- Acting on significant and high value matters including catastrophic losses
- Providing insurance policy advice and coverage dispute support
- Representing clients in negotiations, mediations and court proceedings
- Running matters autonomously with responsibility for strategy and outcomes
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers within the team
- Working closely with a leading NSW insurance and government partner
The Candidate
- Admitted lawyer with a minimum of 5yrs post admission experience
- Hold a current New South Wales practising certificate
- Strong background in casualty insurance, professional indemnity or general liability matters
- Experience with insurance policy advice and coverage disputes
- Sound knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure and relevant legislation
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior lawyers
- Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- Commercially minded with the ability to negotiate and advise strategically
