Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-impact Investment team within central government, where your work will shape how billions are invested across New Zealand’s transport system. From developing the Government Policy Statement to advising on budget bids and investment proposals, you’ll apply robust policy and economic analysis to guide strategic decision-making.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical skills with practical policy experience, clear communication, and sound judgment—able to see the big picture while delivering advice that gets results.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Proven experience in public policy development, with a strong understanding of government processes, and the ability to deliver under pressure across the full policy cycle.
Advanced analytical and economic thinking—able to assess value-for-money, apply cost-benefit frameworks, and translate insights into credible investment advice.
Clear, concise communication skills and practical judgement—able to craft compelling written advice and engage confidently with Ministers, senior officials, and external stakeholders.
