About the role
This role is for an experienced litigation lawyer to manage a broad range of commercial and civil disputes, particularly claims under the Australian Consumer Law. The successful candidate will provide practical, commercially focused advice, take ownership of matters, and work closely with Partners, counsel, clients, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and assist with commercial and civil litigation matters from initial advice through to resolution
- Advise clients on dispute strategy, prospects, risk, evidence, settlement options, and commercially practical outcomes
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, advices, correspondence, and other court documents
- Conduct legal research and analysis, monitoring relevant case law and legislative developments
- Prepare briefs to counsel and experts, liaising effectively with barristers and opposing solicitors
- Attend directions hearings, mediations, and other dispute resolution events
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication
- Contribute to business development and the development of junior lawyers.
Skills & experience
- Qualified solicitor admitted in an Australian jurisdiction with a current NSW practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one
- At least 5 years post-admission experience in commercial or civil litigation and dispute resolution
- Strong knowledge of court practice and procedure across relevant jurisdictions
- Excellent drafting skills, including experience preparing legal documents
- Demonstrated ability to manage matters and client expectations with appropriate autonomy
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
