Senior Financial Accountant

Are you a detail-driven Senior Financial Accountant who thrives on solving complex problems? An industry-leading Energy company is seeking an experienced professional for a 6-month contract to support a high-visibility project focused on data integrity, transactional accuracy and audit readiness.

The Role

In this hands-on position, you will take ownership of identifying, analysing and correcting financial transactions that are incorrect, incomplete or inconsistent. You will be the go-to expert for deep-dive investigations, providing clarity where the numbers do not quite add up and ensuring the business meets compliance and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyse financial transactions to identify discrepancies


• Conduct detailed investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions


• Perform GL reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations


• Reconcile complex accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting


• Partner with internal teams to validate data, resolve issues and implement improvements


• Prepare supporting work papers and documentation for audit


• Assist with month-end processes and ensure alignment with accounting standards

What You’ll Bring

• CPA or CA qualification


• Extensive experience as a Senior Financial Accountant, ideally in a complex or high-volume environment


• Strong technical accounting knowledge and an investigative mindset


• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail


• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities


• Experience preparing for external audit is highly regarded


• Background in the Energy or Utilities sector is advantageous, but not essential
