Senior Financial Analyst - NSW Government

• $850 per day plus super
• 6-month Contract to start asap
• Sydney CBD, with a hybrid flexible working week

Are you a financial expert who enjoys turning complex numbers into clear, actionable insights? Do you want your work to directly influence investment decisions that deliver real impact for the community? In this role as a Senior Financial Analyst working for the NSW Government, you will manage financial analysis for strategic initiatives, business cases, and funding proposals within a NSW government department. You provide expert advice, build robust financial models, and guide senior stakeholders in making evidence-based business decisions.

This is a 6-month contract to start asap, and some of your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

• Build, review, and refine complex financial models to support business cases and strategic initiatives.
• Conduct detailed Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) and calculate Benefit-Cost Ratios (BCR) to evaluate the viability and value for money of proposed investments.
• Provide scenario modelling and financial insights to inform strategic decision-making.
• Work closely with finance and project teams to ensure all submissions meet NSW Treasury guidelines and investment evaluation standards.
• Engage with senior stakeholders and funding agencies to present clear, evidence-based recommendations and support informed decision-making.

Ideally, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or equivalent, and full CPA or CA accreditation.
• Strong experience building and analysing complex financial models, with advanced Excel skills.
• NSW Government experience
• Proven ability to deliver CBA and BCR assessments for large-scale investments.
• Experience translating complex financial and policy information into actionable insights for decision makers.
• A collaborative approach with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
