This public sector agency plays a pivotal role in managing a significant national funding portfolio (of grants provided to community groups) aimed at enhancing community wellbeing.
About the role
This 12-month fixed term Wellington-based role offers the opportunity to own the financial monitoring and reporting cycle for a $multi-million national funding portfolio, that funds community-based organisations nationwide. You will be part of a small, dedicated team focused on delivering insights that inform strategic decision-making at the highest levels.
Key responsibilities
- Own the portfolio financial reporting and monitoring of funding and investment activities
- Portfolio budgets, forecasts and variance analysis related to grants provided to community groups
- Utilise investment systems to manage grant allocations and performance data
- Portfolio level reporting for senior leadership, Board, and Ministerial audiences, providing insights to drive informed decision-making
- Clear, concise variance commentary and financial insight.
This is hands on financial ownership at scale. It is not a transactional accounts role.
Required skills & experience for this role
- Proven experience in a Finance role in the New Zealand public sector (minimum of 5 years), particularly with funding/grant or investment analysis
- Strong experience working with budgets, forecasts, actuals, and variance analysis
- Advanced MS Excel capability (essential), with demonstrated ability to analyse complex data
- Confidence using financial and planning systems (Adaptive Insights or similar)
- Experience reviewing financial information from external organisations
- Familiarity with Power BI is advantageous but not essential
- a relevant tertiary qualification.
