Meet Floyd

Breed: Retrodoodle

Barking from: Freemans Bay , Auckland

What's up dog?

Floyd isn't just our dog he's everyone's gentle giant. Whether he's stretched across the couch like royalty or padding around the neighbourhood like he owns it (because let's face it, he kind of does), Floyd brings a calm, comforting presence wherever he goes. He has a gift for reading the room. If someone's feeling low, he'll quietly nudge his big head into their lap. If it's time to celebrate, he's the first to join the fun usually lying in the middle of everything, soaking up pats like a black shaggy sponge. Neighbours call out to him by name. Local kids run up for cuddles. Even people who are scared of dogs end up giving Floyd a pat. There's just something about him maybe it's his gentle eyes, maybe it's how he leans into you like he's known you forever. He doesn't bark much. He doesn't do tricks. But somehow, Floyd makes everyone feel a little more at home. He's the unofficial therapist, foot warmer, walking buddy, and loyal sidekick. He's been there through moves, big life changes, and everyday routines. Always steady. Always present

2025 NZ People's Choice Award

We believe no dog should be left behind.

Every dog entered into the competition is automatically in the running for the 2025 People’s Choice Award — and the winner will be decided by you, the public.

This year, we’re giving the aroha back to our communities.

Each year, our campaign is supported by a number of incredible charities across Aotearoa that work tirelessly to improve the lives of dogs and people alike. In 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on these organisations and the vital mahi they do.

As part of the voting process, every voter will have the chance to donate to our amazing mental health or dog-focused charities.

It’s your vote, your voice, and your opportunity to make a difference.
