Breed: English Staffy

Barking from: Wellington, Wellington

What's up dog?

Max, our two-year-old English Staffy, is basically a four-legged comedian with a heart of gold. Equal parts cuddle monster and chaos coordinator, Max has a talent for turning even the grumpiest human into a giggling mess. Whether he's zooming around the house like a furry torpedo or dramatically flopping over for belly rubs like he's been emotionally wounded, Max knows how to steal the spotlight - and your snacks if you're not paying attention. Kids love him for his goofy antics (and his uncanny ability to chase his own tail like it owes him money), while others appreciate his calm, soulful eyes that say, "I totally understand your existential crisis now throw the ball. He's become a local celebrity on walks, charming strangers with his wiggly butt and signature Staffy smile. Max doesn't just brighten rooms he crash-lands into them with joy, leaving a trail of laughter, muddy paw prints, and chewed-up socks in his wake. And honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way. 2025 NZ People's Choice Award

We believe no dog should be left behind.

Every dog entered into the competition is automatically in the running for the 2025 People’s Choice Award — and the winner will be decided by you, the public.

This year, we’re giving the aroha back to our communities.

Each year, our campaign is supported by a number of incredible charities across Aotearoa that work tirelessly to improve the lives of dogs and people alike. In 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on these organisations and the vital mahi they do.

As part of the voting process, every voter will have the chance to donate to our amazing mental health or dog-focused charities.

It’s your vote, your voice, and your opportunity to make a difference.
