What's up dog?

Millie, our beloved dog, has had a big impact on the people around her especially the children at Newstead Country Preschool, where she attends most days. At home, Millie is a typical bouncy and energetic dog, full of life and curiosity. But something special happens when she steps into the preschool setting. It's as though she instinctively understands her role and the emotional needs of the children. Millie displays an extraordinary level of emotional intelligence for a dog. She can sense when a child needs comfort, companionship, or just a calming presence. One of her most notable traits is her gentle demeanor when walking on a lead with the children. Though she can be a bit excitable on walks at home, with the children, she slows her pace, never pulls, and carefully adjusts her stride to match theirs demonstrating a level of patience and empathy that continues to amaze us. She often lies near the children during rest times, offering a calm, steady presence. She's protective in the best way alert and watchful when something unfamiliar enters the environment, but never aggressive. The children feel safe with her nearby. Millie's tolerance and gentle nature shine through in how she interacts during play. She allows the kids to dress her in hats and costumes, sitting calmly and never flinching. Her ability to remain so patient and composed shows how much she enjoys being with them.
