Meet Mischa
Breed: White Shepherd
Barking from: Burnside, Christchurch
What's up dog?
Mischa is the love of my life. She's beautiful inside and out with her open, friendly nature, her soft cuddles, and her "always up for anything attitude. She adores people, dogs, and even our cats, and she brings light into every room she enters. For the past eight years, she's been a proud Canine Friend, spreading joy and comfort to thousands across Christchurch. Whether she's visiting someone in need of a little love, joining me on an adventure, or curled up at my feet while I work, Mischa gives her whole heart. Now, 21 months after the first signs of Degenerative Myelopathy, she's still full of spirit, defying all expectations. But I know our time together is limited. She's not just my dog she's my shadow, my therapist, my adventure buddy, and the calm in my storm. We have a bond that words can't capture. She is my heart. Her loss will break mine. Her pet siblings a white shepherd and two ragdoll cats will feel it deeply too. But for now, I treasure every cuddle, every tail wag, every soft sigh at my feet. She is, and always will be, my once-in-a-lifetime dog. Everyone who meets Mischa falls in love with her. There's just something about her warm, open energy that draws people in. Over the years, we've had international house guests from all over the world, and without fail, Mischa steals their hearts. Most of them message to ask how she's doing, years after their visit. She has fans in Europe, South America, Asia, and beyond. On our twice-daily walks, we often get stopped by neighbours, strangers, and curious children because Mischa stands out. She's an ambassador in so many ways: for her breed, with her gentle nature and beautiful presence, and now, for dogs in wheelchairs. People are touched by her resilience, inspired by her joy despite her disability, and moved by the way she just keeps going, always with a wag and a smile. She doesn't just make an impression she leaves a mark. Whether she's gently greeting a nervous child, offering a soft head to an elderly person in need of comfort, or rolling proudly down the street in her cart, she radiates warmth, strength, and kindness. Mischa's impact has gone far beyond our home and community. She's a living reminder that love, positivity, and courage are contagious and that even on wheels, a dog can change the world.
