Meet Nala
Breed: Siberian Husky
Barking from: Shirley, Christchurch
What's up dog?
Nala always lights up the room, or shall I say Pub when we bring her to Fox and Ferret in Christchurch. All the staff know her well, all the customers want to greet and pat her. If I take Nala for a walk or when she accompanies me in my ute with her head hanging out the window, people's faces always light up when they see her. If we have an audience, I like to show them all the tricks she can do and everyone gets surprised at how well behaved she is as a husky. Seeing as huskies are known to be naughty, we change people's mind and educate them about how it is all about the training and the effort you put in instead of judging a dog by its breed. Fun fact, Nala only barks, whisper or sings when we ask her to as a trick. Today she learnt how to sing the Star Wars theme song! @nzpawsies

We believe no dog should be left behind.
Every dog entered into the competition is automatically in the running for the 2025 People’s Choice Award — and the winner will be decided by you, the public.
This year, we’re giving the aroha back to our communities.
Each year, our campaign is supported by a number of incredible charities across Aotearoa that work tirelessly to improve the lives of dogs and people alike. In 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on these organisations and the vital mahi they do.
As part of the voting process, every voter will have the chance to donate to our amazing mental health or dog-focused charities.
