Barking from: Whangaparaoa, Auckland

What's up dog?

At Barttech Computers in Stanmore Bay, our team includes one very special staff member with four legs and a tail Sonny, our beloved working dog. More than just a pet, Sonny plays an essential role in our day-to-day operations and brings joy to everyone who visits. Sonny is our unofficial receptionist and security greeter. He stations himself by the front gate, where he happily meets and greets every customer with tail wags and a warm, welcoming presence. Acting as our "doorbell, he alerts us the moment someone arrives, ensuring no customer is ever left waiting. He then escorts them to the entrance, offering a sense of comfort and safety as they approach our store. Beyond his official duties, Sonny has an incredible ability to lift the mood. His cute, happy personality is contagious no matter how stressful the day may be or how tricky the repairs, Sonny is always smiling (in his own way), reminding us to breathe and enjoy the moment. Customers often comment on how much they love seeing him and how he adds a personal, friendly touch to their experience. For many, he's the highlight of their visit. In a tech repair environment, which can sometimes feel cold or technical, Sonny brings warmth and heart. He represents our values approachable, trustworthy, and community-focused. He helps break the ice, especially for nervous customers unsure about their devices or data, and makes everyone feel at home. Sonny might not fix computers, but his impact on our business is invaluable. He creates a positive first impression, helps us build strong customer relationships, and is a constant reminder of why we love doing what we do every single day. Sonny has a remarkable impact on everyone he meets staff, customers, couriers, and even passersby. His presence brings an immediate sense of calm and joy to our workspace. In a fast-paced environment where technical challenges can be stressful, Sonny is our grounding force. Just seeing him wagging his tail or trotting over for a pat can turn a difficult day around. For our team, Sonny is more than a mascot he's a morale booster, a stress reliever, and a loyal companion. He reminds us to pause, smile, and reconnect with the simple things. His friendly, easygoing nature encourages positive interaction and helps foster a warm, supportive atmosphere among staff. Customers, too, feel Sonny's magic. Many of them arrive anxious worried about lost data or expensive repairs but are instantly put at ease when greeted by Sonny at the gate. His gentle approach and friendly eyes make people feel welcome, and he often becomes the first topic of conversation. We've had regulars pop in just to say hi to him, and children especially adore him. For some customers with disabilities, anxiety, or loneliness, Sonny offers quiet companionship that's both meaningful and comforting. He's also helped create a strong sense of community around our business. People remember us not just for our repairs, but for "the lovely dog at the gate. Sonny has become part of our identity and has deepened our connection with our customers in ways no marketing ever could. In short, Sonny doesn't just brighten our workplace he brings people together, builds trust, and turns everyday interactions into genuine connections. His impact goes beyond our shop; he makes people feel better simply by being himself
