What's up dog?
Mary and Ziggy visit the local rest home in Maungaturoto every month and spend the morning with the residents in the care wing and the dementia wing. They are so well behaved, calm and patient, showing a quiet affection towards those who interact with them. Staff and residents alike are always so pleased to see Mary & Ziggy. They bring smiles on every visit. Some residents miss their dogs and enjoy the opportunity to show affection towards those Mary and Ziggy. On entering the dementia unit, they change the energy in the room. It lifts the residents and gives them a focus. Ziggy and Mary are happy for the residents to take them for walks around the unit and the little garden which gets the residents moving, with a purpose. Mary & Ziggy are happy to sit quietly by non verbal residents and be stroked. They also do a great job of clearing up any crumbs which may have been dropped during morning tea!
