Barking from: Tauranga
What's up dog?
Mabel is The Tauranga District Court Dog. As part of her training, she went through the Mobility Dogs “Puppies in Prison “program. This is a brilliant initiative where prisoners at the end of their sentences are allocated a dog to train. Mabel has a unique role at the court. She is NZ’s only court dog trained to support victims of crime. She starts her day at court by stopping by the Registrars desks for a belly rub. Of course Mabel has a huge impact on the whole court team. It is a very stressful environment but Mabel is always there for cuddles.
2023 #NZTOPDOG Awards Ceremony
This year's campaign has been an absolute treat to watch, and we are thrilled to have shone the spotlight on the postitive impact dogs can make on our mental health, in and our of the workplace. The last few months have been about celebrating our furry best friends and shedding some light on their paw-some work. While each entry was uniquely different, the one thing they all had in common was that having your tail-wagging pal around had helped improve your mental health.
