Are you passionate about driving real change in health and safety culture? Do you have what it takes to influence, engage, and lead across a complex operational landscape?
We’re seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join a high-performing People, Safety & Governance team within a respected government-owned organisation. In this role, you'll be instrumental in embedding a newly developed safety strategy aimed at evolving toward a leading safety culture.

About the Role Reporting to the Health & Safety Lead and working collaboratively with a team of like-minded advisors, you'll champion safety across the organisation. Your focus will be on building relationships, identifying and mitigating risks, and supporting the implementation of proactive health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of the health and safety strategy and action plans
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to build strong, trusted partnerships
  • Drive safety communications that create open and constructive conversations
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and support continuous improvement
  • Assist with major safety-related projects and contractor safety management
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of ISO-certified Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001 & ISO 45003)
  • Promote initiatives to minimise psychosocial risks and enhance overall wellbeing
  • Use data analytics to identify trends and proactively manage critical risks
What You’ll Bring
  • Demonstrated experience in a health and safety advisory role, preferably in civil construction, utilities, or similar operational environments
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
  • A passion for safety and improving safety culture
  • Ability to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience with ISO-certified systems and incident investigation (ICAM advantageous)
  • Strong understanding of safety legislation, codes of practice, and risk management
  • A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused mindset
Desirable
  • Knowledge of project or change management principles
  • Experience with contractor safety onboarding and performance management
  • Strong written communication skills, including writing policies and procedures
