Breed: French Bulldog

Barking from: New Plymouth

What's up dog?

He had a major impact on me personally. I sustained a major traumatic eye injury to my left eye in 2021. This injured my long distance eye causing headaches, vertigo and severe eye pain for a year and a half. The pain then turned neuropathic and I am still suffering today. Before my injury, I was a happy person and never had any mental health issues. In fact, I always quoted that I am living the dream. But my injury left me not only with severe pain Severe mental health issues as well. I was on multiple medication and seeing Multiple psychologist. Two things changed my life my psychologist mentioned learning about mindfulness and she also mentioned how a dog really helped one of her clients that suffered from severe anxiety and pain. This led me to research dogs and I thought would give a dog a go. Scout my little French bulldog saved my life. I have a happy marriage, but there is nothing like coming home to an excited little monster One that makes you laugh constantly. He changed my perspective on life and added so much comedy. I really can’t Emphasise enough The value of getting a French bulldog if you suffer with anxiety where it is hard to even get outside to the mailbox and the change now is like night and day after having him for a year. Now I take him for a daily walks I’m back at work Part Time working, he not only makes me laugh but everyone who meets him. I’ve had the most supportive loving wife and family thru my life changing ordeal. But this little farting, drooling, snoring, droopy little Bulldog has helped suppress my anxiety, distract or minimize my constant eye discomfort and provided endless laughs and got me back outside living again, he is a true star!! For anyone with severe anxiety and distressing thoughts because of there situation get a Scout, your life will change.
