Cost Accountant – High-Growth Food Business
Location: Mangere, Auckland (car parking on site)
Type: Temporary with a potential for the role to move permanent
Hours: 8:30 – 5pm (can be flexible) with 1 day work from home
Assignment Length:  Start ASAP for a couple of months whilst going through their recruitment process could also be a open to longer assignment length.

The Role:

As a Cost Accountant, you’ll support an evolving finance structure and play a vital role in enhancing visibility between finance and operations. Based on-site in Mangere, you’ll be working closely with supply chain and production teams, reporting into the broader Sydney-based finance function. This is a rare opportunity to step into a critical operational finance role at a pivotal time in the company’s growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate standard costing by monitoring product, raw material, and overhead costs
  • Prepare timely costings for new products and analyse weekly variances to standards
  • Conduct margin and profitability analysis across product lines, identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Manage inventory valuation in collaboration with warehouse and production teams
  • Support month-end close, budgeting, and forecasting with relevant cost data and insights
  • Partner with operations, procurement, and logistics to optimise cost flows and improve efficiency
The Ideal Candidate:
  • A qualified or part qualified Accountant with proven cost accounting experience
  • Ideally you will come from a Food production background, pharmaceutical or FMCG
  • Proficient in Business Central (preferred) or SAP
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving processes
  • Strong analytical skills and process orientation
  • Collaborative, but also confident working independently
  • Exposure to Power BI, CoPilot, or Microsoft 365 is a bonus
